Taxi Fares Explained

In Victoria, taxi fares are regulated by Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV).

FLAGFALL:
$4.40 when meter is started.
DISTANCE:
$2.455 per kilometer.
TIME:
$0.885 per minute (if speed is below 21 kph).
TELEPHONE BOOKING:
$2.10 is entered onto the taxi meter at the start of the trip.
LATE NIGHT SURCHARGE:
$4.15 applies Friday and Saturday between 7 pm and 6 am, Sunday to Thursday between midnight and 6 am.
HOLIDAY FEE:
$5.10 applies from:
• 7 pm on the evening prior to all public holidays.
• All day Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
• From 6pm on New Years Eve (but not after 6am on other Public Holidays).

The late night fee does not apply during the holiday fee period.

Wheelchair

Same as standard fare rate.

*Please note an additional fee of $30 will be charged for passengers who do not provide a Taxi subsidy “M50 card.

*Wheelchair services cannot be guaranteed between the hours of 10pm and 6am for ASAP bookings. Please book well in advance for trips between these hours if possible.

NO PAY, NO TAXI

At all times, drivers may request a deposit or proof of payment before or during the trip.
Your driver can refuse to transport you if you do not provide pre-payment.
